Coming down

What a wonderful long weekend. Three full days of time as a family.  As I mentioned, we went up to Gloucester in the morning to check out the beach, home for nap, then down to Quincy to visit old friends.  On Sunday we celebrated Father's Day with a classic brunch here ( I heartily endorse the strawberry pancakes), and then spent the afternoon around our hood, stopping in our walks to pick up the first week of our CSA share.  The strawberries didn't even make it all the way home.  On Monday we had a blissfully lazy morning around the house, and then took the T down to the Common to play in the playground.

When you have a partner who works 80+ hours a week, three full days together feels like a vacation.  We try to make the most of it--that doesn't necessarily mean doing big crazy things--but being purposeful about our time together and really putting the work aside.  Now I have a bit of the post-long-weekend blues, but I'll try and console myself with the fact that another one (albeit shorter) is just a few days away.
