New in town

We've arrived in Boston.  Let's say that our new place is not perfect; moving is not easy.  We loved, loved, loved our old home, neighborhood, friends, and city.  But here we are, and this is my effort to chronicle our daily lives in our new town, the three of us in Boston.

  1. Oh May! My heart is breaking for you! I was in your shoes just two years ago and it is no picnic. I need to know your story - where you came from, why you arrived in Boston - so that I can reflect on all my own experiences and feel that solidarity. I have some advice (learned the hard way): don't knock on doors and introduce yourself, stay away from people's front doors, don't expect to be greeted when you enter a room, and temper the friendliness (it makes people uncomfortable). I learned that I have a big M on my forehead for "Midwest" and I have to approach this place as if I'm in a foreign country. You are in far better shape than me; Boston will be fun and offer lots of opportunities and different kinds of people whereas New Hampshire might as well be a million miles away from Boston. Good luck to you and I look forward to keeping up with your progress!
